Prohylaxis Shingles 5 Months, 4 Weeks ago

My dad had a outbreak of shingles during his treatment on Velcade. Its almost a year now and his doc has put him on acylovir as prophylaxis - 400mg 3 times a week. He has also recommended antibiotic 3 times a week as prophylaxis. Are these medications necessary ?

My oncologist said my outbreak of shingles gave me the best immunity I could get, and recommended nothing further.

Hi, my doctor at the SCT center put me on 800mg Acyclovir, twice daily, after my SCT to continue for one year. Just FYI.
