My wife, (elaine) was diagnost with mm 5 years ago. she was told she had 1 to 2 years to live. over this time, she has taken in pill form every chemo out there. at this time, she has not had chemo for 3 months because her blood count is to low, and now has been told by the doctor, (Lin Soe) that he cannot continue her treatment without a blood transfusion. being associated with Jehovaha witnesses, we do not take blood. is there such a thing as a transplant that can be performed without blood? and if so, where cqn she get it. waiting your reply, tim repass

Hi Tim,
Dr. Berenson isn't able to reply at this time, so I wanted to respond to let you know.
At this time though, there's no way to do an auto SCT with any guarantee that your wife won't need any blood products. During my own SCT, I required a few infusions of donor platelets.
Has your wife harvested her own stem cells already?
Beth

Tim,
You might want to call the IMF. The people on the hotline are very nice and know everything about MM. They've helped me a lot over the years.
