rash whilst on velcade and dex 2 Months ago Karma: 0
Dear Doctor
my husband's myeloma is back since August 08, having had remission since Feb 04. he has had two cycles of vlecade and is suffering diarrhoea, loss of appetite, fatigue but most worryingly, a rash that rather looks like chickenpox. the doctors have said it is a viral infection. It's an angry looking rash, no itching. Can you shed some light on this for me? i would be much obliged. Thank you Bernie

Hi Bernie,

Due to his extremely busy schedule, Dr. Berenson isn't able to reply at this time.

Would you say the rash looks like mosquito bites, hives or welts at all? Is it confined to the chest and upper back? It seems to be a common side effect. Would the doctor be willing to add benedryl and a steroid to the IV?

I recall suffering from diarrhea during the first few treatment cycles. I adjusted and it seemed to be only mild from time to time.
