Those of us who have been to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston were given a handout of supplements and medications that are used to help with the Thalomid and/or Velcade induced peripheral neuropathy. Rich N. has provided the latest update, which he received on August 23, 2006.
Vitamins--Always take with Food
Hi-Dose Multi-B Complex Vitamins with B1, B 6, B12, folic acid and other
B-vitamins
Folic acid should be be 1-2 mg. A list he gave me in April said B6 should be approximately 100mg qd, not to exceed 200 mg
Vitamin E--400 IU daily
Fish Oils-Omega3 fatty acids EPA and DHA
Evening Primrose Oil Capsules (not for me for some reason)
Flax Seed Oil
Amino Acids
Acetyle L- Carnitine--500 mg with food-1-2 hrs before or after twice daily
Alph-Lipoic Acid 200 mg a day with food-1-2 hours before or after
Recommends combination pill-one twice daily, Alpha lipoic acid 200 mg,
Acetyl L Carnitine 500 mg
FOR CRAMPING
Magnesium 250 mg twice daily-may cause diarrhea in large doses
Potassium-2 teaspoons apple cider vinegar
Bananas, oranges
Tonic Water (has Quinine in it)

PRESCRIPTION MEDS
Neurontin- Start w/ 100 mg 3 times per day gradually work up to 600 mg 3 times per day, can dose as high as 2700 mg per day with physician permission
Elavil 25-50 mg at bedtime
Cymbalta-Start at 20, work up to 60 mg at bedtime
Celebrex 100-200mg (Take only with physician supervision)
Lyrica-75-150 mg twice a day
Lidoderm patch 5%-1 1/2 patches each area of pain, change every 12 hours
