Foods You'll Want To Buy Organic

By Environmental Working Group
Government data show that some conventional fruits and vegetables carry a much heavier pesticide load than others. Here is EWG's latest list of produce to buy organic if you can. If organic is not available, you may want to choose fruits and veggies that are consistently less contaminated.

The vegetables least likely to have pesticides on them are sweet corn, avocado, cauliflower, asparagus, onions, peas and broccoli. The five fruits least likely to have pesticide residues on them are pineapples, mangoes, bananas, kiwi and papaya.

Spinach, celery, potatoes, and sweet bell peppers are the vegetables most likely to expose consumers to pesticides. Eight fruits in the top 12 items are peaches leading the list, then strawberries, apples, nectarines, pears, cherries, red raspberries, and imported grapes.
