Ash and Groshong Catheters

Here are the Ash and Groshong catheters. The ruler is 6" long. The white, larger one is the Ash and has the last 2" cut off that was sent to the lab for bacterial testing. You can clearly see the "cuff" on both of them. The blue Groshong catheter still has the stitch attached that was at the entry site. The Groshong end that is inserted into the vein has two slits, one above the other, one for each internal tube. The Groshong had a lot hanging out and I circled it up and taped the ends at the center of my chest for comfort.

The EMLA cream made the extraction painless on the Groshong. I wished I had used EMLA on the ASH, too. I padded the ends of both catheters with a dressing to help prevent chafing my skin.
