If you follow the “example” of others who have lost their hair after chemo, be prepared for some fun. If your hair was straight before, it very well may grow back finer in texture, and curly. My husband just went for the Telly Savalas look (are we showing our age?), and waited for the cute new growth. Sad to say, now (10+ months later) it is back to straight like before. Hat, or wig? I would say go with whatever seems comfortable for you, and matches your personality. Maybe both??
Cranial prosthesis
My sister `s hair is just starting to come back after breast cancer chemo. One of my nieces (wife`s side) had donated her hair to “Locks of Love”, and I sent Sis some pics. Her response may interest you. “Most of the “locks of love” hair goes to children. My cranial prosthesis is artificial hair because it’s easier to care for, not that I’ve worn it enough to need care! I’m now half way through my radiation treatments, and beginning to grow a little “peach fuzz” on my head. Looks like it’s going to be white! Also beginning to recover from chemo. Still have a lot of fatigue but otherwise doing well.”
You can see her sense of humor (she`s a nurse) in the Cranial Prosthesis statement, but the artificial hair was of interest to me. I`m sure you will still be a real “Babe”, regardless of what you elect to do. I vote for the funky headgear, but, that`s my warped sense of humor/style. Hang in there!

Decision about hats or wig
I have just had to make a decision about hats or wig, —one I had hoped I wouldn’t have to make, but I decided to go with hats–There are lots of them out there, and they are easier to wear, in my opinion! When my hair started to leave, and my eyebrows disappeared, I hit for the hat store, and found a lovely little pink thing, and a great black one, trimmed with silver. —-which meant I probably need new earrings, —it was actually fun doing the shopping, and the lift it gave me is priceless. Good luck finding what you like!
Curly
Mine was very straight and came back very curly… but it is starting to straighten out.( I lost it in March 2005)
Your hair should start coming back in in a couple of months or so. It is hard to tell what it will look like for awhile. I couldn’t stand a wig so wore baseball caps and bandanas… and of course a touque at night.
Wigs, etc.
I got a wig but could not stand it. I was much more comfortable with scarves and just a plain old baseball cap. When I was home or around friends or family I didn’t even do that. Bald was fine and most of my close friends said I had a nice shaped head and it looked good.If you are in an area where cold weather is starting like me now,I did get a really nice warm hat for going outside. I also ordered alot of things from a magazine called TLC that is part of the American Cancer Society. The doctors office had them.
